Daw Theatre Foundation
We’re not just bringing a 1930s-era theatre back to life. We’re bringing the arts to Tappahannock, the Middle Peninsula, and the Northern Neck. We’re creating the space to make lifetime memories. We’re opening the door for opportunity to grow in the downtown district of Tappahannock. We’re cultivating a love for the arts in future generations.
Essex County Museum & Historical Society
The Essex County Museum, founded in 1996, and the Essex County Historical Society joined forces in 2006 to celebrate the heritage of the town, county, river, and its people and is now the Essex County Museum and Historical Society (ECMHS).

Check out the Events Calendar for the latest in free programming and community workshops. Events for babies, toddlers, children, tweens, teens, adults and the whole family. Knit and Crochet Club meets twice monthly.
St. Margaret’s School
Riverfront girls Episcopal boarding and day school dates back to 1921 when students arrived by steamboat. The campus stretches over 900 feet and can be rented for weddings, camps, meetings and other events. Indoor space can accommodate both small and large groups. River lawn area, the most popular event setting, can accommodate as many as 500 guests. Residence halls offer lodging options.
Tappahannock Art Gallery
Enjoy and buy art at this downtown cooperative gallery of the Tappahannock Artists Guild that showcases the work of local artists and educates the community with cultural programming. The guild is part of the River to Bay Artisans Trail that links the gallery with other art venues on the Middle Peninsula.
