Join us for a spooktacular evening of family fun in the heart of Downtown Tappahannock! The annual Prince Street Trunk or Treat is back—featuring decorated vehicles, music, food, games, and more.


Trunk or Treat Festivities Include:

This event is co-hosted with the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, whose support helps make Trunk or Treat a welcoming, family-friendly community tradition on Prince Street.


Costume Contest

Come dressed in your Halloween best and join the fun!

Contestant Check-In: 4:45 PM
Judging Begins: 5:00 PM

Registration Details

We’d love for you to be part of the event by decorating your vehicle and handing out treats to local families. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase your creativity, connect with the community, and help make Halloween memorable for kids of all ages.

For all trunk participants (those decorating and handing out candy):

  • Vehicle Arrival: Setup begins at 2:00 PM; vehicles must arrive by 2:30 PM.
  • Entry Location: Water Lane.
  • Setup Deadline: Complete all setups, including tents and tables, by 3:15 PM.
  • Parking: First come, first served — NO SAVED SPOTS.
  • Event Hours: 3:30–5:30 PM.
  • Registration Cutoff: October 28, 2026.

🎃 Rules & Regulations

Thank you for participating in this year’s Prince Street Trunk or Treat! Please review the following guidelines to help us keep the event fun, safe, and family-friendly for everyone.


🚗 Vehicle Arrival & Setup

  • Vehicle entry for setup begins at 2:00 PM.
  • Vehicles must arrive by 2:30 PM.
  • Only participating vehicles may enter Prince Street.
  • All setups, including tents and tables, must be fully completed by 3:15 PM.
  • Vehicles must remain in place until the event ends at 5:30 PM.
  • Spaces are first come, first served — no saved spaces.
  • Electricity is not provided.
  • Adult supervision is required for all entries.

🍬 Candy & Giveaway Guidelines

  • Expect approximately 1,200 children — please plan your candy supply accordingly.
  • All candy must be individually wrapped and sealed in the original manufacturer’s packaging.
  • Homemade items (including food or treats) are not permitted.
  • Promotional items are welcome but should be age-appropriate for children.
  • No sales or services may be offered at this event.

🎭 Costumes & Displays

  • Please avoid scary or gory costumes and decorations — children of all ages will be attending.
  • Businesses and organizations may display one banner or sign at their vehicle.
  • Displays will be spaced appropriately to encourage comfort and safety.
