Thank you for supporting the 2024 Tappahannock Farmer’s Market!
Our setting in Historic Downtown Tappahannock’s business district celebrates the scenic Rappahannock River. Our 3rd Saturday markets run from 9 am until 1 pm, April through October, and draw an average of 700 attendees. Our market has moved slightly this year, to Prince Street and Water Lane, providing vendors with easier access to their spaces. Special events for 2024 include our inaugural Earth Day celebration on April 20. We have also expanded our promotions to include special musical guests and free activities to encourage audience growth.
We offer standard 10’X10′ booth spaces for $30 per market day, with a limited amount of 20’X10′ larger spaces for $60 per market day. The larger spaces are reserved for agricultural producers. We offer a discount for full-season reservations (seven market Saturdays). A full-season reservation of the standard space is $25 per market = $175. The larger space full-season price is $50 per market = $350. Full-season vendors are expected to attend all seven market dates. Vendors are required to give notice of absence in writing at least one week prior to the market.
Full-season vendor applications must be submitted by March 1, 2024.
Your application is important and will be reviewed by our Board of Directors market committee. A notification of determination will be emailed to you within 10 business days. Vendors are selected to provide shoppers with an appealing variety of high-quality goods, but no vendor is entitled to exclusivity, and the market committee may permit more than one vendor to sell a given product.
Products sold at our market are limited to six specific categories:
· Farm-Fresh Products: fresh fruits and vegetables, herbs, nuts, honey, dairy, eggs, poultry, mushrooms, meats, fish, and shellfish. Also included are fresh-cut flowers, nursery stock, and plant starters.
· Value-Added Farm Foods: foods processed and sold by the farmer/fisher/rancher/forager of the main raw ingredients. This includes preserves, jams, jellies, cider, wine, beer, distilled spirits, syrups, salsa, smoked or canned meats or fish, dried fruit, flours, and salad dressings.
· Dried Flowers and Crafted Farm Products: non-edible bouquets, wreaths, roping, arrangements and displays of fresh and dried flowers, vegetables, vines, and gourds. Beeswax products are allowed. Other non-edible, crafted farm products will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
· Processed Foods: foods created by vendors who are not farming or producing the raw ingredients themselves. Examples include preserved foods, wines, beers, spirits, baked goods, confections, pasta, and related take-home foods. These foods are not prepared at the market.
· Artisan Crafts: products made either completely by hand, or with the help of hand tools. These products may be functional or decorative, including furniture, art, sculpture, clothing, and household items. Crafts may be considered on a case-by-case basis, if space is available.
· Prepared Foods: freshly-made foods available for immediate consumption onsite at the market. Examples include sandwiches, tamales, and crepes.
TERMINATION: The market committee and staff have the right to terminate any vendor agreement at their discretion.
